wooden dolls are famously known as ‘Marapachi Bommais’, which literally means wooden dolls. These dolls are brought to you from a small town close to Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh called Settigunta. Commonly known as Raja Rani dolls, these dolls are carved out Neem wood. The carved wood is then dipped and immersed for hours, in a paint made with natural ingredients, resulting is no chipping of paint. These dolls are a significant part of South Indian weddings. They are presented to the bride and the groom at the time of marriage.
