Chapter 1 is an overview about various socio-environmental policies and their impacts on the environment, Chapter 2 is discussing about existing social and environmental conditions, Chapter 3 is about existing status of farming and farmers, Chapter 4 is focused about environmentalist viewpoints about socio-environmental Scenario, environmental policies and their their impacts on impacts on environment; Chapter 5 is about administrators and Politicians viewpoints about socio-environmental Scenario, environmental policies and their impacts on environment, Chapter 6 is focused about the farmers and other stake holders viewpoints about socio-environmental Scenario, environmental policies and environment and Chapter 7 elaborated about future scenario of socio-environment conditions and their consequences Thus, it is mandatory to sensitize the stakeholder at each and every level with the basic environmental literacy and awareness if a country such as India is to achieve the difficult transition from unsustainable and fragile environment to an ecologically sustainable economy and development. The practical suggestions mentioned in this book will prove useful to policy makers, politicians, bureaucrats, administrators, scientists, students, educators and farmers etc. Professor (Dr.) Rani Devi began her journey in the field of environmental sciences in 1996 through a master degree course. Being dual post graduated in Environmental Sciences (i.e, Master of Science and Master of Technology) and Ph.D. (Energy Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India) is a distinguished personality having knowledge of environment in theoretical as well as technological aspects. She has joined as an Assistant Professor in 2004 and presently working as Professor in the Department of Energy and Environmental Sciences, Chaudhary Devi Lal University Sirsa, Haryana and demonstrated qualities of a good faculty nearly over 18 years, where she taught Environmental Awareness, Natural Resources, Environmental Impact Assessment, Energy Conservation and Management, Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Microbiology along with different recent environmental aspects to M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. students. She has published quality research papers in reputed journals and having good index (14 index factor) both "H" as well as "i10" with a list of total publications over 90, published 4 books by world famous publishers i.e. USAID, Narosa and DBH publisher & distributor, 12 book chapters in books of reputed publishers i.e. Springer, Narosa, Nova and International Water Association and 32 research papers in peer reviewed International journals having good impact factors and having mostly international citations (over 1000 publications cited her publications). Sum total of the impact factors of her publications is nearly 88.
