This book covers all the competencies in psychiatry as per the Competency Based Undergraduate Curriculum prescribed by National Medical Commission for Indian medical graduates. The text has been written as a conceptual framework and in a lucid manner to make it more interesting and engrossing for the undergraduate students. Some difficult to understand topics such as psychoanalysis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality psychology have been written in such a manner that makes it easy to understand and memorise. The Textbook also covers some basic topics which are necessary to have an in-depth understanding of psychiatry, such as neuroanatomy and neurophysiology pertaining to psychiatry, and psychopharmacology. Simple and easily reproducible illustrations and tables have been introduced at relevant places in the text to help the undergraduate student understand the core concepts in psychiatry better, especially the neurobiological aspects of psychiatric illnesses.
